Vintage MCM Japanese Ikebana fused art glass square vase with frog 1.5” x 6”

Beautiful glazed pottery Japanese Ikebana vase with frog in shades of brown and tan. Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging places a heavy emphasis on the container as an integral part of the overall composition. Potters crafted specialized vessels with low profiles and wide water-holding surfaces to support minimalist arrangements using branches, leaves and blooms. A heavy metal pin frog, known as “Kenzan” sits inside the central well to anchor the stems securely at precise angles. Excellent condition- no chips, cracks or repairs. Lovely!
