Vintage Japanese porcelain hummingbird motif octagonal plate 7.25”

Golden Nectar hummingbird and iris design with work gold accents. Craftspeople in Japan created these decorative vessels “art of Chokin” line by adapting an ancient metal inlay technique once used to decorate samurai armor and weapons. They engraved copper bases and then applied rich layers of gold and silver leaf to achieve intricate metallic ornamentation with strong tonal contrasts. Measuring 7.25” across,this is a lovely example of fine craftsmanship.
